Freeform at Saturday School (Jun edition)

15 June 2019 1:00—18:00

Saturday School is a day of creative workshops programmed by Agile City.

Every month, we will fill the spaces of Civic House with workshops led by practitioners working across art, design and sustainability. Our aim is to create a stimulating environment for testing new ideas, learning through making and sharing skills and knowledge.

Spend the day developing a new skill, exploring a practice or learning about new topics and subjects.

From 6pm onwards, Civic House and its grounds will be open for a night of music from Huntleys + Palmers and friends, cheap drinks, performances as well as communal food served up by the Civic House Kitchen team.
Clyde Built 5.0 Street Party w/ Wheelman, Nova Scotia, Grim Lusk

This month’s Saturday School is included in the wider programme for Test Unit 2019 – art, architecture & design summer school held at Civic House.

DAYTIME WORKSHOPS:

Glasgow Tool Library
Each month, Glasgow Tool Library will lead workshops that introduce you to different carpentry tools to use in various woodcraft techniques. Workshops are themed according to what objects you make, from toys to outdoor furniture.
13:00 – 18:30
Tickets here.

Civic House Kitchen – Food Workshop
The workshop will give an introduction to simple vegan recipes made fancy with nuts, seeds, herbs and spices. Learn how to make big, colourful sharing dishes that are full of flavour but not too difficult or expensive to make – take home some food, a few recipes and some knowledge on vegan cooking!
This workshop is kindly supported by the Climate Challenge Fund.
13:00 – 15:00
Tickets here.

Dress for the Weather – Glasgow Façades
A tour through a cross section of the city will focus on how different eras of architecture create different atmospheres, orders and compositions. The tour will focus on the ‘impressions’ left by facades of these eras on the city and record these through drawing and photography. A workshop at Civic House will use these field recordings to make a group and personal response to the tour through multi-media techniques in architectural image and model making.
13:00 – 18:30
Tickets here.

Terrazzo_Workshop – **SOLD OUT**
Terrazzo Workshop is a 2-day workshop (June 14th-15th) where you will learn the basics in building form work, mixing Terrazzo and polishing a tile which participants can then take home. We will explore the local environment for found aggregate to add to our mixes to imbue a sense of place into the work. I encourage imagination and thoughtfulness in the Terrazzo process.
